No Trust is Hybrid: Reply to Faulkner

چکیده
Abstract There is a well-developed literature on trust. In his important article Faulkner ( Analysis, 75 (3), 424−429, 2015) distinguishes three-place, two-place and one-place trust predicates. He then argues that our more basic notions of are expressed by the Three-place trust, contractual not fundamental. This matters. Having clear understanding concepts important. The most assumption Faulkner’s argument notion three-place predicate attitudinal ; it ‘metaphysical hybrid attitude action’. I argue this wrong. All three no reason exists to deny derive from one. Once one rejects can be separated off others as metaphysical for priority collapses.

No Choice , No Trust ?
We present a feedback design solution for a user interface about a dynamic web service recomposition, which exhibited trust issues in an accompanying questionnaire study. By examining the design in detail and identifying the factors (as well as their interrelations) that caused the distrust, we discuss what could be done to avoid distrust through design in the future.
متن کاملReply to “No evidence for iris”
A number of points put forth by Hartmann and Michelsen (2002) (henceforth HM) are, in fact, irrelevant to the iris effect (i.e., their discussion of the meteorological origin of various systems). We shall discuss this in greater detail later. Some are quantitatively insignificant (the effect of spreading cloud cover near the equator); we shall also return to this later. Others are simply wrong ...
متن کاملDeception and Mutual Trust: a Reply to Strudler
Alan Strudler has written a stimulating and provocative article about deception in negotiation. He presents his views, in part, in con trast with our earlier work on the Mutual Trust Perspective. We believe that Strudler is wrong in his account of the ethics of deception in negotiation and in his quick dismissal of the Mutual Trust Perspective. Though his mistakes may be informative, his views ...
متن کاملHybrid transitive trust mechanisms
Establishing trust amongst agents is of central importance to the development of well-functioning multi-agent systems. For example, the anonymity of transactions on the Internet can lead to inefficiencies; e.g., a seller on eBay failing to ship a good as promised, or a user free-riding on a file-sharing network. Trust (or reputation) mechanisms can help by aggregating and sharing trust informat...
متن کاملNo rattlesnakes in the rainforests: reply to Gosling and Bush.
Gosling & Bush (2005) criticize our interpretation (Wüster et al. 2005) of a phylogeographic analysis of the Neotropical rattlesnake (Crotalus durissus) as supporting a hypothesis of Pleistocene fragmentation of the Amazonian rainforests. We thank these two authors for the opportunity to further discuss issues concerning the ecological and biogeograph-ical history of the Amazon Basin. Gosling a...
